Philosophy of Montessori Method
“The absorbent mind is an analysis of the physical and psychological aspect of a child’s growth during the important first six years of life. It is during this period that the child acquires the knowledge of motor coordination, the making of social adjustments, the setting of work habits, language and the beginning of routines that set patterns for the child’s life.”
- Dr. Maria Montessori
Montessori Learning Center - Ventura's instructional program is based on a scientific method of teaching developed by the well-known educator, Dr. Maria Montessori. She became interested in education as a physician while treating children, and began her work in San Lorenzo, Italy. Her observations and research lead her to discover that children have much potential in learning new concepts, especially at an early age. She also found that early education is the best preparation for a child's life.
When she successfully completed her research, she traveled across the world lecturing about her discoveries and establishing schools. She has written a number of books. (Many of them are available at your local public library.) Dr. Montessori designed her method to help children reach their potential mentally, physically, socially, morally, and spiritually. This method is referred to as The Montessori Method.
